Radioactive Materials by Road and Sea
Cargo Training International offers specialist courses for shipping Radioactive Material. Although we offer public courses for Radioactive Materials by Air, we only offer inhouse programmes for Radioactive Materials by Road and Sea.
The full 2-day courses are intended for those students who have not undertaken the subject matter before. The one-day revalidation modules can only be undertaken by persons already holding a valid Radioactive Materials certificate and are confident with using the DG regulations and ship radioactive material on a regular basis.
It is highly recommended that students undertaking this course have already attended a Dangerous Goods training programme relating to the same mode of transport. Our standard dangerous goods courses cover the navigation of the DG regulations which are not covered on a radioactive materials programme.
The course objectives are:
- Locate information concerning the classification of radioactive materials in the ADR and/IMDG Code.
- Prepare and check packages containing radioactive materials.
- Complete and check the Shippers Declaration for radioactive materials.
- Apply the regulations covering segregation and stowage of radioactive materials in accordance with the Dangerous Goods Regulations
- Pack radioactive materials correctly.
- Be able to take correct action in the event of damage to radioactive materials packages.
On completion of this course, which includes a written examination, candidates will receive a certificate. Certificates are valid for 2 years.
